Ubuntu Flow

An African Centered Ecstatic Dance Experience

Ecstatic dance experiences  are free-form dance gatherings guided by intentionally curated  music with the intention of offering the potential for a deeply healing experience through the medium of non-choreographed dance as a mystical experience and healing balm.

What makes our ecstatic dance offerings different is that they are intentionally curated from an African centered perspective of dance, music and ritual.

Dance is  an extremely important part of  African culture as a whole, Not only is it a  means of  celebration at social gatherings but also as a medium of storytelling, expression, communication and healing.  It plays a vital role in rituals & ceremonies and reflects our history, traditions, and values as a diverse group of people.

This is not a dance class, there is NO dance experience needed, nor do you need a partner to participate. Whether you think you can't dance, are shy about dancing in public or are a seasoned dance professional, this is a most powerful experience for ALL!  It is your own experiential journey of letting go and allowing yourself to BE danced from the inside out, dropping out of your head and into the ancient wisdom of your body, guided by your own inner divinity. It is a free, open form space to experience the collective power of community and the transformative power of dance.

Ubuntu is a traditional African philosophy that can be summarized by the phrase, “I am because  we are.”  In this way, it emphasizes the interconnectedness of all individuals and the mutual respect, honor and responsibility we have towards one another. The environment  and community we are cultivating through UBUNTU FLOW, is one that knows "I am because WE are" and strives to offer a safe space, free from judgement and harm, where we leave one another (as well as the spaces we offer in) better than we found them.

Ubuntu Flow African Centered Ecstatic Dance Experience welcomes people of all ages, shapes, sizes, experience levels and backgrounds to freely express themselves through a powerfully  liberating experience of dance as a moving meditation as well as a community ritual practice with the power to heal  and commune with the Divine. This is indeed a spiritual experience.

Our Ubuntu  experience begins  with a  welcome and libation offered by Grammy Award Winning Activist & Hip Hop Cultural Icon Professor Griff of Public Enemy, followed by our opening circle of grounding, connecting, centering and warming up guided by Billboard Award Winning Hip Hop Artist & Priestess Solé, before moving into the dance portion of the journey, which is musically guided by world renowned DJ 5th Wurld who, guided by the ancient wisdom of his practice as a Kemetic Yoga Instructor, takes us on a thoughtfully curated, unapologetically AfRakan musical journey that celebrates the rich diversity of contemporary AfRaKan sound.

We would love to commune with you in the throws of the activation and cultivation of life force energy and contact with the spirit world through this sacred  communal offering of Ubuntu Flow Ecstatic Trance Dance!

UBUNTU! I AM BECAUSE WE ARE!
